Order picking chilled products and frozen products

With chilled and frozen products, we differentiate between order picking and packaging. We understand order picking to be the putting together of cartons of the same or various articles into a delivery unit, or rather on to a pallet. We understand packaging to be when various single sorts of an article are packed together in a carton, a sack or a tray to form an assortment.

We order pick in the frozen as well as in the chilled product sector without using documents. Every fork-lift-truck used for order picking is equipped with a terminal which communicates directly online via radio data transmission with the IT system of the frozen food centre. The order picker receives his picking order directly on his monitor, and books the amount order picked after each single order picking procedure. By matching actual stock and planned stock, we are able to guarantee a permanent overview, and so we achieve a high degree of picking accuracy, and contemporary information on our current stock is always available. For every pallet which is order picked, we print a GS1 pallet label; this guarantees us the traceability of each single carton back to every picking order, and to the original pallet.
